The Incident of the Shrunken Sweater

So, at our house doing others laundry can be a risky thing, especially doing mine. I don't know about you, but I have several things that can't be dried in the dryer because of the material that they are made out of or because if they dry they will shrink and therefore not fit anymore. Lately I have been doing both Jesse and I's laundry (For some of you this may come as quite a shock, that I don't do my husbands laundry all the time. I grew up in a house where everyone did their own laundry. Also, on the way to our honeymoon Jesse offered to do my laundry, which was quite a shocker.) At the start of doing both of our laundry I asked Jesse if he had anything that couldn't be dried. He said no, that his things have been in the dryer. Come to find out that this was not true. This last week Jesse wore a sweater that he had never worn before, therefore it hadn't been dried. He didn't think anything of it. I didn't either. This was a mistake. Not only had the sweater not been dried in the dryer, it hadn't been washed. The travesty of it all was that the sweater was wool. If you know anything about wool, you know where I am going with this. Yes indeed, the sweater did shrink. It no longer fits Jesse. On the bright side however, the sweater fits me. At least someone will get use out of it:)

Liam's Blessing

It is hard to believe that my own child has been blessed. I still feel like I am a sophomore in college, not a 27 year old mother. Liam did a great job, slept through the whole thing. Jesse gave a very thoughtful blessing. Liam's official name is Liam Hadd Patrick Ellis. He has the name of his father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. All three men are worthy men for Liam to pattern his life after. We had many family and friends there to support us. I don't think that the circle of priesthood holders could have gotten much bigger. Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported Jesse and I and Liam to this place.

Right Leg Pedaling

Liam is a mover and a shaker. He is moving all the time. Sometimes he gets stuck just moving his right leg up and down.

The Pumpkin Patch

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the crispness of the air, the smell of grapes, and the changing of the leaves. An annual tradition we have as a family is to go to the vineyard pumpkin patch and pick out pumpkins. I don't know when this started, but as long as I can remember we have been going down there. This year felt different though. Usually I have been going as the child (yes my mom still buys me a pumpkin even though I am almost 27). However, this year I was going as the parent with my own child. It will be fun when Liam is old enough to run around and pick his own pumpkin as opposed to being held and being a pumpkin himself.

We had some pictures taken of Liam when he was 3 weeks old. It was quite the photo shoot. It took almost 3 hours, because he was sleeping when we needed him awake and awake when we needed him sleeping. He also pooped and peed everywhere. He is a darling boy though.

Rolling Over

Despite the fact that he is only 5 weeks old, Liam can roll from his tummy to his back. At first I didn't know if it was just a fluke or not, but he has made it a consistent pattern. Tummy time is not so productive now, because he gets himself onto his back.

Nicknames

You would think that Liam Hadd Patrick Ellis would be enough names for one little guy, but no. He has more nicknames then anyone I know. In no particular order here are the names Liam gets called by: Buddy, Honey, Monkey, Kitty Cat, Squidge, Squidgey, Booger Face, Scoobie, Pumpkin, Grunter Boy, Muffin, Honey Boy, Dude, and Little Man.

Liam's One Month

It's not every day that you turn one month old. Liam celebrated being one month yesterday October 3rd. It was hard to imagine that one whole month had passed since he was born. I have included a picture of what I looked like 3 days before he was born. I can't even remember him being in my belly thank goodness. We celebrated with cupcakes and ice cream. The whole Ellis clan came to celebrate with us. Thanks guys. The guest of honor decided to fall asleep 15 minutes before the guests arrived, so he missed his party. He couldn't have eaten a cupcake anyway so I guess it was good that he missed it so he wouldn't be sad.

I Finally Caved

I finally caved to the world of blogging. I said that I would never be a blog person. That blogs weren't for me. It is to much to keep up on, who has time to read everyone's blogs. Now I am eating my words. Maybe it is the fact that I am now a stay at home mom and am trying to find things to do with myself or maybe now that I have a child I have something to write about. Regardless of the reason, here I am starting a blog.

So, welcome to the adventures of Jesse, Kelby, and Liam. I wish I could say as you visit our blog, in the words of the theme song to Zoobalie Zoo, "magic and wonder are waiting for you" however that is probably not the case:) Our adventures are probably not magic and wonderful, but they are our adventures in life.
